The first house in Mosta was founded
on October 14th, 1928 after a request of the then Archpriest
Fr.Paul Mallia to set up an oratory for boys under 10 years,
to be instructed in religious knowledge. The house was given
to us by Fr.Felix Calleja. The teaching of Catechism remained
until an Oratory for boys was built in time. Meanwhile the
Sisters helped the Parish by the cleaning, mending and sewing
of Sacred Vestments. The Sisters distinguished themselves
for their patience and efficiency in washing. ironing and
starching the Altars’ linen and the Procession’s
vestments. In addition to this Apostolate, they opened their
first Junior class that gradually grew into an Infant School
and later on, opening the new House at Ponsonby Street,
that flourished into an Academic School catering for an
Infants, Junior and Secondary classes known as St.Monica
School. “Drama” was another form of Apostolate
chosen by the Sisters with the aim of evangelization. Together
with an Academic School, the Sisters distinguish themselves,
now, for the Music School comprising
The
St. Monica Choir that
is renowned for its accomplishments both in Malta and Overseas.
